Over Thirty Years of Quality Service in Southampton, New York
While working for J. C . Penny's Fine Jewelry Department, Carol and David Stull met each other and had a joint vision of starting their own Jewelry Store some day. After David spent some time learning the service and repair side of the Jewelry business from a few prominent Jewelers in the local area, they set off on their plan. In 1980 they took over the old European American Bank location on the south side of Jobs Lane, and Jobs Lane Jewelers begun its journey in Southampton as a quality jewelery store that provided service with professionalism, care, and quality, all while doing so at a reasonable cost to those in the community.
Carol's son Robert Chase was only twelve when his mother and step-father started Jobs Lane Jewelers. He helped out doing small odds and ends jobs from the start. By the time he was 15, he started to learn the service and repair side of the jewelery business. He took a jewelry class in high school where he learned some free-form jewelry making and casting. He started working for his parents full-time right out of high school at the ripe age of 17, in 1986. Shortly thereafter, he went to study with an artisan/jeweler in Huntington under an apprenticeship. Rob has also taken several courses, including but not limited to, the GIA Diamonds Course, The GIA Advanced Stone Setting Course, and having the only laser welder on the East End of Long Island, The Laser Star certification program for Laser Welding. Rob is also a 19 year volunteer fireman with the North Sea Fire Department where he also serves on the Dive Team. Rob is also an avid fisherman and boater, so feel free to ask what his latest catch was, there will always be a good story to go with it.
After working with his parents for twenty years, Rob and his wife Dawn Chase decided to buy the business. They bought the business in 2006 at its present location at 18 Windmill Lane just around the corner from the original Jobs Lane site. Rob had the vision of increasing the custom jewelery side of the business while continuing the tradition of superior service and Dawn wanted to use her accounting background and sales intuition to help increase profitability. Dawn has provided her keen eye for acquiring some of the finest pieces of jewelry on the east end, her dynamic personality, her love for the community, and her accounting background to complete this second generation family run business. Rob and Dawn are the proud parents of four children from twelve to twenty-one, whom you will often see around the store and town.
